Worship Services

Sunday Service

Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. we gather to celebrate our faith in scripture, song, prayer, and time for silence. Sermons reflect on scripture and offer a relevant message of hope for our times. Music is a blend of traditional and contemporary and complements the gospel theme of the day.

We also offer a pre-recorded or live-streamed service. Past services can be found on our YouTube channel.

Communion

The Sacrament of Communion is typically offered once per month and can be requested privately if needed. A request can be made to our minister if there is a special need for those who are homebound or ill. Please contact the church office.

Children & Youth

Currently, given the limited attendance of children and youth on Sunday mornings, we offer programming midweek. Please see our events page for more information. Seated activities are available on Sunday mornings in the sanctuary.

Taizé

Taizé with Northlea is an informal service of prayer that combines candlelight, silence and scripture with music from the Taizé community.

The Taizé experience is reverent, peaceful, restorative and comforting whether you are a confident singer or simply enjoy listening. See our calendar for upcoming dates or view our online newsletter, Newsbites.

Jazz

Jazz is known for its spiritual vibe. There’s nothing like a great Jazz piece to speak to your very soul.

Northlea is blessed to have a faithful crowd of Jazz lovers who enjoy an alternative to regular Sunday morning worship. The music is familiar, the lyrics capture the struggles and joys of being human, and the readings, poetry or scripture woven throughout can offer humour and comfort for listeners.

See our calendar for upcoming dates or view our online newsletter, Newsbites.

Walking the Labyrinth

Invitations to walk the labyrinth are posted in Northlea United’s Newsbites weekly digital newsletter or on the website calendar. At Northlea, labyrinth walks are typically held once per month during the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons and have themes associated with them. Guided group walks are led by a facilitator and usually take about 1 – 1 ½ hrs. There are also opportunities to walk alone during the hour before and after the guided group walks. Walks are held in the Community Room and may include some of the following activities depending on the theme and focus for the evening:

prayers

poetry, scripture or other readings

meditation

silence and reflection

music and singing

collaging, colouring or other artistic self expression

gentle movements

Participants are welcome to join in as much or as little as they feel comfortable and able. For people who have difficulty walking we provide printed labyrinths that can be traced with your finger, or coloured, depending on your preference.

Please be in touch with us if you are interested in renting our canvas labyrinth for your retreat or event. And, depending on dates and times, we may also be able to provide you with an experienced facilitator.
