What is Nothing But Treble?
The Northlea neighbourhood youth choir, Nothing But Treble, is a vocal ensemble just for young people where they can develop their musical gifts. This program strives to make a difference in the lives of local children and youth by providing them with excellent music instruction and performance opportunities that will foster personal development, creativity and social growth. Our goal is to focus on training children (3rd grade to high school) in vocal skills and the foundations of music.

When & where does it meet?
The youth choir meets in the Northlea United Church’s Community Room every Wednesday from 4 – 6 p.m. This 12-week program runs from September 25 to December 11 with a concert on our last day. All dates/times can be subject to change, but all changes will be communicated in a timely manner.

What is the cost & why?
Due to the resources needed to operate a program like this, there is a fee of $175 for the 12-week program. This cost helps toward the purchase of sheet music, snacks, accompanist and instructor, as well as any other items used in the program.

If there are financial concerns that would prevent your child from being involved, please let us know – we would love to help in any way we can.
We wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on the opportunity of involvement for financial reasons.

Attendance in Choir

In order to provide the best music training for everyone, it’s very important that we make the best use of the time that we have together. Choir
is a team effort, so it’s essential that all participants make it to rehearsal each week. We ask that each young person arrive at 4 p.m. for check-in and snack time. Rehearsal will begin right at 4:15 p.m.

Commitment to the Program
If your child is unable to attend a practice, we ask that you please let Jane know via email (NBTyouthchoir@gmail.com). This helps quite a bit with planning. Every young person who is a part of the program will receive their music early on in the season, and they will be encouraged to practice at home.
