Join our Friday afternoon Bible Study group at 2:30 on Zoom, or explore the Bible independently with some helpful resources.
Focuses on what the scripture might be saying through its historical context and into our present day reality. We ask loads of questions about the text, its historical context, its narrative context and we use a variety of commentaries, personal experiences and insights as we try to glean spiritual wisdom for today from Biblical passages. Our discussions don’t require that we all agree. We respect that not everyone is at the same place on the spiritual journey. Instead, we work with the tensions of difference and contradiction, making love and acceptance the core values of our discernment.
There are many ways to study scripture and the starting places are infinite. We tend to start with the Revised Common Lectionary that has a 3 year cycle. Click HERE to access the Lectionary.
Look for the date of the closest Sunday. There will be 4 – 6 readings suggested for each Sunday. Choose a passage and explore it in depth by reviewing various commentaries.
