Kids and Cool Church

Welcome to Cool Church

“Cool Church” got its name, more than a decade ago, by the kids in the program – they liked coming, and today’s generation of kids, still does too!

Nursery for babies and toddlers – Under the warm and watchful eye of our nursery leaders, your little ones will be able to rest or play with a good selection of age-appropriate toys.  Our music teacher will visit the nursery on most Sundays, engaging older children in singing and musical games.

Sunday Morning Cool Church – The children participate in the Sunday service at the beginning.  After Children’s Time (usually led by Kim) they gather together and head off to the gym.  Here, they learn through song, stories, crafts, and games – all coordinated by Kim Stanbury (the Children & Youth Coordinator).

Youth class, Grades 7 and Up – This group meets during Sunday Services, and sometimes after service.  Led by Stephen Popiel and Kim Stanbury, they are challenged to define their personal values through discussions of Bible stories and church teachings and how they relate to pop culture, current affairs and music. The Youth also meet regularly outside of this time to play games, watch movies and have a catch to hang out informally.

On Holidays… We run “Holiday Special” program that engages kids of all ages.  That way, your children won’t miss their core curriculum if you go out of town.  On the other hand, if you are entertaining and have more children around than usual, they can be comfortably welcomed into the day’s activities.

The Goals of Cool Church – Comfort, Community, Compassion, Culture

Comfort – We aim to create a fun and welcoming place where children are free to be themselves. We welcome and encourage all children, whether they are new to church or in regular attendance, we want them to feel comfortable to explore their faith here at Northlea.
Community – Being a part of a community benefits children and youth in many ways. We work to help build these bonds and friendships within Cool Church so all children feel a part of God’s family.
Compassion – Cool Church is a place of compassion – for one another and for the world around us. We hope to foster a sense of compassion within each other to help out where and when we can.
Culture – Cool Church helps children to develop an understanding of the Bible and God’s love for us.
